Our Rigging Training Course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to safely prepare, secure, lift, move, and position loads using appropriate rigging equipment and lifting accessories. The training covers essential rigging principles, lifting equipment, slings, shackles, hooks, wire ropes, chains, lifting points, load calculations, load capacity, centre of gravity, inspection of lifting equipment, safe lifting procedures, communication and signalling, workplace hazards, and emergency procedures. Learners are guided on how to select and use rigging equipment responsibly while following manufacturer specifications, lifting requirements, site procedures, and recognised workplace safety practices. The course provides valuable skills for individuals seeking opportunities in industries such as construction, mining, engineering, manufacturing, fabrication, logistics, ports, heavy lifting, and industrial operations.
Introduction to Rigging Operations: Understand the role and responsibilities of a rigging operator, the importance of rigging in lifting operations, applicable regulations and standards, and the principles of preparing loads for safe lifting and movement.
Rigging Equipment: Learn about different types of lifting equipment, including wire rope slings, chain slings, synthetic slings, shackles, hooks, eyebolts, and turnbuckles. Training covers the correct application, inspection, maintenance, and limitations of rigging equipment, including understanding Working Load Limits (WLL).
Load Handling Fundamentals: Learn how to estimate and calculate load weights, centre of gravity, load balance, and sling angles, including how sling angles can affect lifting capacity. Training also covers common hitch types, including vertical, basket, and choker hitches.
Safe Rigging Practices: Learn how to conduct pre-lift inspections, plan lifting operations, select appropriate rigging configurations, use tag lines for load control, establish exclusion and safety zones, and correctly use PPE during rigging operations.
Rigging Signals & Communication: Learn standard hand signals for rigging and crane operations, the role and responsibilities of the signal person, radio communication procedures, and effective communication practices. Training also covers common communication challenges and ways to reduce misunderstandings during lifting operations.
Safety & Emergency Procedures: Learn how to recognise rigging and lifting hazards, assess risks, apply appropriate control measures, follow emergency stop procedures, and correctly report incidents, unsafe conditions, and near-misses.
