Main Use: Heavy Mining
Our Articulated Dump Truck (ADT) Training course provides learners with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to operate an ADT safely, efficiently, and responsibly in demanding work environments. Training covers essential machine controls and functions, pre-operation inspections, workplace and site safety, load management, safe driving and manoeuvring, dumping procedures, hazard awareness, and emergency response. Learners also gain practical experience in operating the machine under supervision while learning to identify potential faults and follow correct operating procedures. The course is structured around manufacturer guidelines and workplace requirements, helping learners build the confidence and competence needed to operate an ADT in industries such as mining, construction, quarrying, earthmoving, and civil engineering.
Theory Assessment – 20%: Learners complete a written theory assessment designed to evaluate their understanding of the articulated dump truck, including its functions, safety requirements, operating procedures, and correct operating practices.
Practical Assessment – 80%: The practical assessment focuses on hands-on machine operation. Under the supervision of a qualified instructor, learners demonstrate their ability to safely and effectively operate an articulated dump truck while applying the techniques and procedures covered during training.
Competency Assessment: Learners are assessed by qualified assessors and moderators to determine whether they have demonstrated the required knowledge, skills, and competency to operate an articulated dump truck safely and effectively.
Machine Introduction: Learners are introduced to the fundamentals of articulated dump trucks, including:
- Understanding what an articulated dump truck is and its applications.
- Understanding the main functions and capabilities of an ADT.
