Our Superlink Reverse Training Course is designed to equip learners with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to safely and confidently reverse and manoeuvre a Superlink truck in professional working environments. Training covers vehicle controls and functions, pre- and post-operation inspections, coupling and uncoupling procedures, reversing techniques, trailer alignment, controlled manoeuvring, load management, vehicle stability, blind spots, and safe operating procedures. Learners are guided on how to assess their surroundings, use appropriate observation and communication techniques, and carry out reversing operations responsibly while following manufacturer guidelines, workplace procedures, road safety requirements, and applicable industry standards. The course combines classroom-based theory with practical hands-on training to help learners develop the confidence, control, and competence required to safely reverse and manoeuvre Superlink trucks in transport, logistics, freight, distribution, construction, and other commercial environments.

Theory Assessment – 20%
Learners complete a written theory assessment covering essential knowledge of Superlink reversing and manoeuvring, including vehicle and trailer functions, reversing procedures, safety requirements, blind spots, vehicle stability, coupling and uncoupling, load security, and responsible vehicle operation.

Practical Assessment – 80%
The practical component focuses on hands-on Superlink reversing and manoeuvring. Under the supervision of a qualified instructor, learners demonstrate their ability to safely control, reverse, align, position, and manoeuvre the Superlink combination while applying the techniques covered during training.

Competency Assessment
At the end of the training and assessment process, qualified assessors and moderators evaluate each learner’s performance and determine whether the required competency and safety standards have been achieved.

Introduction to Superlink Reversing: Learners are introduced to the principles of reversing a Superlink truck, including vehicle and trailer configuration, articulation, turning behaviour, blind spots, rear visibility, steering control, trailer tracking, safety features, warning systems, operating limitations, and manufacturer guidelines.

Pre-Operational Inspection: Training covers comprehensive vehicle and trailer inspections, including tyre condition and pressure, brakes, lights, mirrors, coupling equipment, air lines, fluid levels, and other critical components. Learners are taught how to identify and report defects, use the manufacturer’s operating manual, and ensure the vehicle and trailer are properly secured before reversing operations.

Reversing Area Assessment: Learners are taught how to assess the reversing area before movement, including identifying obstacles, pedestrians, other vehicles, ground conditions, clearance requirements, blind spots, and potential hazards. Training also covers establishing a safe reversing area and ensuring the path is clear before proceeding.

Reversing Techniques: Training covers straight-line reversing, controlled steering, trailer alignment, articulation control, corrective steering, reversing into designated areas, and positioning the trailer accurately.

Manoeuvring & Positioning: Learners develop an understanding of how to safely manoeuvre a Superlink combination in confined areas, yards, loading bays, parking areas, and other restricted spaces, while maintaining control of both the truck and trailer.

Communication & Observation: Training covers the correct use of mirrors, direct observation, communication with a spotter or banksman, agreed hand signals, and radio communication where applicable. Learners are taught to stop immediately when visibility or communication is lost.

Safety & Emergency Procedures: Training covers blind-spot awareness, pedestrian safety, collision prevention, safe stopping procedures, emergency situations, and actions to take when the reversing operation becomes unsafe.
