Our Stainless Steel Welding Training Course is designed to equip learners with the knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively weld stainless steel materials in professional workshop and industrial environments. The training covers essential stainless steel welding principles, welding equipment and setup, material preparation, joint preparation, welding processes, welding positions, heat control, weld penetration, welding defects, weld inspection, PPE, and workplace safety procedures. Learners are guided on how to select suitable welding methods and consumables, prepare stainless steel correctly, and produce quality welds while following manufacturer specifications, recognised welding practices, and workplace safety standards. The course provides valuable skills for individuals seeking opportunities in industries such as fabrication, manufacturing, construction, engineering, food processing, chemical plants, mining, maintenance, and industrial welding operations.
Theory Training – 20%: Covers stainless steel welding fundamentals, material properties, welding processes, equipment and machine setup, consumables, shielding gases, welding parameters, joint preparation, welding positions, heat control, welding defects, weld inspection, PPE, and workplace safety.
Practical Training – 80%: Provides hands-on experience in preparing stainless steel, setting up welding equipment, selecting suitable consumables, adjusting welding parameters, performing different joint types and welding positions, controlling heat input, producing consistent weld beads, and identifying and correcting common welding defects.
Competency Assessment: Learners are assessed on their theoretical knowledge, practical welding ability, equipment setup, material preparation, welding technique, weld quality, safety awareness, and ability to produce sound stainless steel welds safely and effectively.
Introduction to Stainless Steel Welding: Learn the fundamentals of stainless steel welding, an overview of common welding processes, workshop safety, welding tools and equipment, and the different types and grades of stainless steel.
TIG Welding Stainless Steel (GTAW): Learn TIG welding setup and machine controls, tungsten selection, shielding gas flow settings, welding beads and joints, thin plate welding, polishing, and finishing techniques.
MIG Welding Stainless Steel (GMAW): Understand MIG welding setup for stainless steel, appropriate wire selection, welding parameters, test welds, plate welding, and pipe welding techniques.
Stick Welding Stainless Steel (SMAW): Learn correct electrode selection and handling, welding techniques for stainless steel, vertical and overhead welding, and basic weld quality inspection.
Stainless Steel Pipe Welding: Learn stainless steel pipe welding principles, including argon purging, root passes, cap passes, weld quality, and pressure testing requirements.
Stainless Steel Fabrication: Develop skills in measuring, marking, cutting, grinding, beveling, polishing, buffing, bending, and rolling stainless steel materials for fabrication and welding applications.
Welding Safety: Learn essential safety practices for stainless steel welding, including PPE, ventilation and fume extraction, fire prevention, electrical safety, safe equipment handling, and workshop safety rules.
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
You can either bring your own PPE for training or purchase it from the college for an additional R1,000.
Required PPE: Overall, Safety Helmet, Gloves, Safety Boots.
