Our Superlink Training Course provides learners with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to safely and confidently operate a Superlink truck in professional working environments. Training covers vehicle controls and functions, pre- and post-operation inspections, coupling and uncoupling procedures, load management, safe driving techniques, reversing procedures, reversing and manoeuvring techniques, road safety, vehicle stability, braking, and correct operating procedures. Learners also develop an understanding of workplace hazards, vehicle safety requirements, responsible driving practices, and safe reversing procedures while following manufacturer guidelines and applicable industry standards. The course combines classroom-based theory with practical training to help learners develop the competence and confidence needed to operate Superlink trucks in transport, logistics, freight, distribution, construction, and other commercial industries.

Theory Assessment – 20%
Learners complete a written theory assessment covering essential knowledge of the Superlink truck, including vehicle functions, operating procedures, reversing procedures, safety requirements, manoeuvring, and responsible vehicle operation.

Practical Assessment – 80%
The practical component focuses on hands-on vehicle operation. Under the supervision of a qualified instructor, learners demonstrate their ability to safely and confidently operate, manoeuvre, and reverse the Superlink truck, including applying correct reversing techniques and the skills covered during training.

Competency Assessment
At the end of the training and assessment process, qualified assessors and moderators evaluate each learner’s performance and determine whether the required competency standards have been achieved, including safe vehicle operation, manoeuvring, and reversing ability.

Introduction to Superlink Trucks: Learners are introduced to Superlink trucks, their applications, major functions and components, safety features, warning systems, dashboard indicators, operating limitations, maximum load capacities, and relevant manufacturer guidelines and operating instructions.

Pre-Operational Inspection: Training covers comprehensive vehicle inspections, including checking tyre condition and pressure, fluid levels, brakes, reversing systems, mirrors, and other critical components. Learners are taught correct start-up and shutdown procedures, how to identify and report mechanical defects, how to use the manufacturer’s operating manual, and how to park and secure the vehicle according to workplace requirements. Reversing safety, blind spots, vehicle positioning, and safe manoeuvring are also covered. Load security, balance, and stability are covered before departure.

Safe Operating Practices: Learners develop safe and responsible driving practices, including maintaining vehicle stability, recognising potential hazards, understanding warning indicators, following applicable safety procedures, and operating safely in different weather and road conditions. Training also covers safe reversing practices, blind-spot awareness, checking the surrounding area before reversing, and appropriate responses to mechanical failures and emergency situations.

Loading & Unloading Procedures: Learners are introduced to safe loading and unloading practices, proper load distribution, material movement, operating on uneven or inclined surfaces, preventing overloading and load instability, and the appropriate use of spotters, banksmen, and recognised hand signals during loading, unloading, reversing, and manoeuvring where required.

Driving Techniques: Practical training covers safe starting, moving, manoeuvring, reversing, and stopping procedures. Learners develop techniques for straight-line reversing, controlled reversing, positioning the Superlink in confined areas, using mirrors effectively, checking blind spots, and following spotter or banksman instructions. Training also covers operating in different environments, maintaining appropriate speeds, managing loads safely, following temporary safety signs and site requirements, and operating the vehicle according to manufacturer recommendations.

Post-Operation Procedures: Learners are trained to safely park and secure the vehicle, follow correct shutdown procedures, carry out basic cleaning and post-operation checks, complete required logbooks and inspection reports, and report defects, incidents, or maintenance concerns, including any issues identified during reversing or manoeuvring operations.

Driver Responsibilities: Superlink drivers have an important responsibility for maintaining safe vehicle operations. Learners are taught to recognise situations involving unsafe vehicles, loads, road conditions, or work environments and to report concerns to the appropriate supervisor. Drivers are also responsible for ensuring reversing areas are clear, checking blind spots, using appropriate reversing aids and signals, and maintaining effective communication with spotters or banksmen where required. Operations should only continue once identified hazards have been addressed and safe operating conditions have been restored.
