Our Bulldozer Operator Training course is designed to equip learners with the practical knowledge and skills required to safely and effectively inspect and operate a bulldozer in off-road and demanding work environments. Training covers pre- and post-operation inspections, machine controls and functions, safe operating procedures, earthmoving techniques, workplace hazards, machine stability, basic maintenance, and correct shutdown procedures. Learners gain practical experience operating the bulldozer under professional supervision while following manufacturer guidelines and workplace safety requirements. The course is suitable for individuals seeking to develop their heavy equipment operating skills for opportunities in construction, mining, earthmoving, roadworks, civil engineering, and related industries.
Theory Training – 20%: The theory component assesses the learner’s understanding of bulldozer functions, controls, safety requirements, operating procedures, workplace hazards, and correct machine operation.
Practical Training – 80%: The practical component provides hands-on training where learners operate the bulldozer under professional supervision. Learners demonstrate their ability to perform pre-operation checks, use machine controls, manoeuvre safely, carry out basic earthmoving tasks, and follow correct operating procedures.
Competency Assessment: Learners undergo a competency assessment conducted by qualified assessors and moderators. The assessment evaluates their theoretical knowledge, practical operating skills, safety awareness, and ability to operate the bulldozer safely and competently.
Machine Orientation: Understanding what a bulldozer is, the functions and applications of tracked bulldozers in earthmoving activities, major machine components and their functions, safety features and warning systems, operating capacities, machine indicators, and appropriate corrective actions according to manufacturer specifications.
Pre-Operation Checks: Training covers checking fluid levels, tracks and undercarriage condition, brakes, hydraulic systems, and the overall condition of the machine. Learners are taught to identify and report faults, consult the manufacturer’s manual, and park and secure the tracked bulldozer according to manufacturer and worksite requirements.
Site Preparation & Work Planning: Learners learn how to assess and prepare the work area, determine the correct sequence of operations, identify required equipment and attachments, use appropriate PPE and safety signs, and prepare the site according to operational requirements.
Safe Operating Procedures: Training covers PPE, worksite safety, operating in confined or restricted areas, understanding warning indicators, working in different weather conditions and on uneven terrain, maintaining machine stability, preventing unsafe operating conditions, and responding appropriately to emergencies.
Operating Procedures: Learners develop practical skills in using bulldozer controls according to manufacturer specifications, following temporary safety signs, starting and stopping the machine, safe manoeuvring techniques, operating within speed and load limitations, pushing and moving material, levelling surfaces, and carrying out earthmoving activities efficiently.
Post-Operation Procedures: Training includes correct parking and shutdown procedures, securing and cleaning the bulldozer, conducting post-operation checks, reporting faults or maintenance concerns, and completing required machine logs, inspection records, and workplace documentation.
