How much is tractor driver training?
Our Tractor Driver Training costs R6,500 and takes 3 to 5 days to complete. The course focuses on tractor controls, driving techniques, basic inspections, safe manoeuvring and agricultural equipment handling. Register for training to develop practical skills for tractor driving opportunities in farming and agriculture.
How difficult is it to drive a tractor?
Learning to drive a tractor becomes easier with proper instruction and practical training. Learners develop an understanding of tractor controls, steering, braking, manoeuvring and safe operating procedures. Driving on farms and agricultural land also requires awareness of uneven ground, slopes, obstacles and other farm equipment. With practice, learners can build the confidence needed to operate a tractor responsibly.
What does a Tractor Driver Course cover?
Our Tractor Driver Course introduces learners to the basic driving skills and safety procedures required for tractor operation in farming, agriculture and other working environments. Training covers:
Identifying the main tractor components, controls and instruments.
Understanding tractor functions and operating principles.
Conducting pre-start inspections and identifying visible defects.
Starting, stopping, steering and manoeuvring a tractor.
Driving forward and reversing safely.

Work can involve ploughing fields, preparing soil, towing trailers, moving farm supplies, maintaining agricultural land and assisting with daily farm operations. With experience and additional agricultural skills, tractor drivers can develop their careers in crop production, livestock farming, landscaping and broader agricultural operations.
Will I get a tractor driver’s licence after training?
You can receive the applicable tractor operator credential after completing the required training and assessment. However, a training certificate or operator credential is not automatically the same as a South African road driver’s licence. If you intend to drive a tractor on public roads, you must comply with the applicable licensing and road-use requirements for that vehicle.
Can I get a tractor certificate after training?
Yes, you can receive a Tractor Driver Training Certificate after successfully completing the course requirements. The certificate provides evidence of your training and can support applications for relevant tractor driving and agricultural equipment operating positions.
What are the requirements for tractor driver training?
Learners should be able to understand instructions, communicate effectively and concentrate during practical activities. Good coordination, spatial awareness and a willingness to learn are important when operating a tractor and working around agricultural equipment. Learners must also be prepared to follow safety procedures, recognise hazards and operate machinery responsibly. Additional driving licence requirements apply when using a tractor on public roads.
