Cranes Training
Our crane training courses are designed to help learners develop the knowledge, practical skills and safety awareness required to work with different types of cranes and lifting equipment. We provide training covering various crane operations, including mobile cranes, tower cranes, overhead cranes and truck-mounted cranes, as well as rigging and load-handling skills.
Crane operators play an important role in construction, mining, manufacturing, engineering, logistics and industrial operations. They are responsible for lifting, moving and positioning heavy materials while following established operating procedures and workplace safety requirements.
Whether you want to become a crane operator, improve your existing skills or gain training in a particular type of lifting equipment, our courses provide an opportunity to develop practical knowledge for the workplace.
Different cranes are designed for different lifting operations. Understanding the equipment, its controls, lifting capacity and operating procedures is essential for safe and effective crane operation.
We cover several crane training areas to help learners understand the equipment and skills used across different industries.

1. Mobile Crane Training
Mobile cranes are widely used in construction, mining, industrial projects and infrastructure development. They are designed to lift and move heavy loads while offering mobility between different work locations.
Mobile crane training introduces learners to crane components, operating controls, pre-operation inspections, lifting procedures, load handling and workplace safety. Learners develop an understanding of how mobile cranes are positioned and operated during lifting activities.
Mobile cranes are commonly used for:
Lifting heavy construction materials.
Moving machinery and industrial equipment.
Loading and unloading heavy goods.
Supporting infrastructure and building projects.
Lifting materials at industrial and mining sites.
2. Tower Crane Training
Tower cranes are commonly used on large construction sites, particularly where materials must be lifted to considerable heights. Their height and lifting reach make them suitable for high-rise buildings and major construction projects.
Tower crane training introduces learners to crane components, operating controls, lifting operations, load movement, communication procedures and safety requirements. Learners develop an understanding of how tower cranes are used to lift and position construction materials.
Tower cranes are commonly used for:
High-rise building construction.
Lifting concrete and steel materials.
Moving construction equipment.
Large commercial developments.
Infrastructure and engineering projects.
3. Overhead Crane Training
Overhead cranes are used inside factories, warehouses, workshops and industrial facilities to lift and move heavy materials across designated working areas. They operate using a bridge and hoist system that moves loads horizontally and vertically.
Overhead crane training covers crane components, controls, lifting procedures, load handling, pre-use inspections and workplace safety. Learners gain an understanding of how overhead cranes are operated when moving materials within industrial environments.
Overhead cranes are commonly used for:
Moving heavy materials in factories.
Handling steel and metal products.
Lifting machinery and industrial components.
Warehouse material handling.
Manufacturing and engineering operations.
4. Truck Mounted Crane Training
Truck-mounted cranes are lifting machines fitted onto trucks, allowing operators to transport and lift materials at different locations. They are particularly useful for deliveries, construction activities and loading or unloading heavy equipment.
Truck-mounted crane training introduces learners to crane components, operating controls, stabilisers, load handling, lifting procedures and safety precautions. Learners develop an understanding of how the crane is prepared and operated during lifting activities.
Truck-mounted cranes are commonly used for:
Loading and unloading building materials.
Delivering heavy equipment.
Construction and installation projects.
Transporting and positioning machinery.
Industrial lifting and material handling.
5. Rigging Training
Rigging is an important part of lifting operations. It involves preparing, attaching, securing and handling loads using lifting accessories and equipment before they are lifted by cranes or other lifting machinery.
Rigging training helps learners understand lifting equipment, slings, shackles, lifting points, load weight, load balance and safe load attachment procedures. Learners also develop knowledge of inspecting lifting accessories and identifying potential hazards during lifting operations.
Rigging skills are commonly used in:
Construction and engineering.
Mining and industrial operations.
Manufacturing facilities.
Warehousing and logistics.
Heavy equipment installation.
Crane and lifting operations.
Rigging Course Duration: 2 Weeks
Rigging Course Fee: R 6,500 per person

Why Is Crane Training Important?
Crane operation involves lifting heavy loads, working around machinery and coordinating lifting activities in busy workplaces. Proper training helps operators understand their responsibilities and follow the correct procedures when handling lifting equipment.
Crane training helps learners develop skills in:
Equipment identification: Understanding different crane types, components and operating systems.
Operating procedures: Learning how cranes are prepared, controlled and operated.
Pre-operation inspections: Identifying visible defects and checking equipment before use.
Load handling: Understanding lifting capacity, load positioning and safe movement.
Workplace safety: Recognising hazards and following appropriate safety procedures.
Communication: Understanding signals and communication during lifting operations.
Emergency procedures: Knowing how to respond to unsafe conditions and operational problems.
These skills are important for maintaining safe lifting operations and improving workplace efficiency.
Where Are Crane Operators Employed?
Crane operators are needed in industries that involve lifting, moving and positioning heavy materials. Different crane types are used for different tasks, creating opportunities across several working environments.
Common employment sectors include:
Construction and civil engineering.
Mining and mineral processing.
Manufacturing and industrial production.
Warehousing and logistics.
Ports and shipping operations.
Steel fabrication and engineering.
Infrastructure development.
Equipment installation and maintenance.
With suitable training and operating experience, crane operators can pursue opportunities in different industries that use lifting machinery.
